Freestone County, Texas Obits Fairfield Recorder - Thursday, October 5, 2006 Shirley Jean (Groseclose) Gaskin Funeral services were held Saturday in Buffalo for Shirley Jean Gaskin, 71, of Smithville who died Tuesday, September 26 in Austin. Mrs. Gaskin was born July 31, 1935 to George and Margaret Groseclose. She was a homemaker, and a member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Karen Bochk and Rev. Lloyd Lane officiating. Burial was at Buffalo Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Gaskin, Mike Gaskin, Joe Gaskin, David Gaskin, Michael Landry, Jeff Groseclose, Jason Groseclose and Chance Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Vaughn, John Wilson and David Diamond. Mrs. Gaskin is survived by her daughter Karen Haisler and husband Steve of Elgin; stepdaughter Cynthia Massey and husband David of Houston; brother Jack Groseclose and wife Jane of Rockport; Grandchildren Melanie Diamond and husband Jason of San Antonio, Kristy Wilson and husband John of Bastrop, Michael Landry of Houston, Lauren Massey of Austin, and great-grandchildren Carson Travis Diamond of San Antonio and Chayse Lynn Wilson of Bastrop. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.R. "Freck" Gaskin; and parents George and Margaret Groseclose and sister Kay Cadle. Arrangements were made by Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.
