Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News - Apr. 8, 2005 edition Mrs. Elector Betts Gatson Funeral services for Mrs. Elector Betts Gatson, 79, of Fairfield, were held Saturday morning, April 2, at 11 o'clock in Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Fairfield. The Rev. E.A. Anderson, pastor, and the Rev. W.C. Anderson, assistant pastor, officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery-Fairfield, under direction of Moore's Angelic Funeral Home of Teague. Mrs. Gatson, born in Freestone County on July 26, 1925, died March 30 in Methodist Hospital-Dallas. She had been employed as a cook at several restaurants, and was a member of Mount Zion MBC of Fairfield. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Tyree Gatson, Jr., and Ruby Gatson, and Arthur Dean and Debra Gatson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Delilah and Leon Terry, and Ramona Terry and John Tanksley; two brothers, the Rev. Calvin Washington and wife Louise, and James Campbell, Jr.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were James Griffin, Billy Jones, Jr., William Cooper, Virgil Keeton, Stanley Terry and Melvin Solomon.
