Thelmarie (Jones) Gatson

Funeral services were held Saturday for Thelmarie Gatson, 82, at First Saint 
Holland Baptist Church in Buffalo. Mrs. Gatson died June 3.

Officiating was pastor Joseph Brown. Interment was at Sand Hill Cemetery in 
Buffalo.

Mrs. Gatson was born April 26, 1928 in Buffalo to Morris and Sarah P. McIlveen 
Jones. She attended Buffalo public schools and Hicks Beauty School in San Antonio.

A member of Leona New Home District Association, Mrs. Gatson was also a member 
of Most Ancient Matron of Golden Rule #149 Grand High Court Heroines of Jericho. 
She served on the usher board of First Saint Holland Baptist Church of Buffalo.

She married Leslie Gatson in October of 1976, and the couple remained together 
until Gatson’s death in July 1999.

Mrs. Gatson is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother James
Morris Jones and sister Bernita Scott.

Survivors are son Christopher (Pamala Kay) Jones of Buffalo, daughter Lola 
Mercer of Buffalo, brothers Rolley (Mable) Jones of Arizona, Odis Hopkins of 
Dallas and Curtis Ray Jones of Houston;

Nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and 
a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Gene Scott, James Amos, Larry Tatum, Don Hayes, Jim Scott and 
Mac Robinson. Honorary pallbearers were members of the First Saint Holland usher 
board.

Arrangements were made by Emanuel Funeral Homes.
