Gwendolyn D. (Hobbs) Gilbert 

Gwendolyn D. Gilbert, 70, of Rice passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 at her
residence. 

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at J. E. Keever
Mortuary. 

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Rice Cemetery. 

Mrs. Gilbert was born Feb. 24, 1930 in Tokio, Texas to Lynn and Lillie Blevins
Hobbs. She was reared in Plains, later moving to Carrizo Springs. She attended
school in Plains and Carrizo Springs. In 1949, she married James W. Gilbert.
After their marriage they lived in Fairfield. 

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; and a brother, Tim Hobbs in
August 2000. 

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her son, James Lynn Gilbert of Rice; daughters,
Karrolleen Gilbert of Ennis and Edith Jo Blazek of Rice; mother, Lillie Hobbs
of Carrizo Springs; brothers, Arnold Hobbs and Lennis Hobbs, both of Alice, and
Tom Hobbs of Sinton; sisters, Sandra Phillips of Fairfield and Pat Power of
Uvalde; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
