Mexia Daily News - Oct. 18, 2005 edition Vernon Ray Gilliam TEAGUE - Funeral services for Vernon Ray Gilliam, 73, will be this afternoon, Oct. 18,. 2005, in Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel of Teague. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Powers, and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Gilliam, born in Fairfield on Nov. 13, 1931, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, in Houston. He formerly resided in Teague, and had lived in The Woodlands for the past 21 years. He was a retired Conductor for the Burlington-Northern Railroad. Mr. Gilliam, a Presbyterian, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Boggy Lodge 739 in Teague, the Karem Shrine Temple in Waco, and was a Scottish Rite 32nd degree, Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon W. and Grace Ward Hamilton Gilliam, and by a granddaughter, Mandy Gilliam. Surviving are his wife, Emme Lou Gilliam of The Woodlands; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Connie Gilliam of Salado, Chuck and Shelia Gilliam of The Woodlands; a daughter, Ginger Gilmer of The Woodlands; a brother, Charles Gilliam of Austin; a sister-in-law, Wanda Johnson of Richmond, Texas; seven grandchildren - Michelle Gilliam, Melodie Gilliam, Chuck Gilliam, Jr., Stefanie Gilmer, Anna Gilmer, Storm Gilliam and Jordan Czichos, and a great-grandchild, Alex Gilliam. Pallbearers are Chelmer Satterwhite, Terry Sartor, Joe Dwayne Hancock, Herbert Cody, Kenneth Beasley, John Allen Christian, Bodie Posey and H.G. Williams.
