Freestone County, Texas Obits Houston Chronicle newspaper - Thursday 04/05/2001 edition ELSIE CLYTEE WREN GILLIAM ELSIE CLYTEE WREN GILLIAM, beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother, passed away on April 3, 2001. She was born on April 13, 1922 in Iola, Texas, to Millard Benjamin and Altha Mae (Bond) Wren. She met James Bernard Gilliam in Providence Elementary School, Freestone County, Texas. They married on December 23, 1939 and moved to Houston in 1947. Clytee served as assistant librarian at the Denver Harbor and Cliff Tuttle Branches of the Houston Public Library for 25 years. She will be fondly remembered for her unique sense of humor, her total devotion to her family, her love of travel and adventure, and her great cooking. Clytee was predeceased by her parents, one nephew, Mark LaPierre, and one great-grandson, Benjamin Rickerl. She is survived by her husband and two sisters and their husbands, Nell and Lawrie LaPierre of New Braunfels, Texas and Margaret and Bob Cooper of Sarasota, Florida and one brother-in-law and his wife, Joe Eddy and Betty Gilliam. She leaves three daughters and their husbands, Brenda Janette (Placette) and Bill Maust, Wanda Jo and Rae Rayon, and Rita Gail and Donald Anders. Clytee is survived by seven grandchildren: Karla Brandt, Jamey Jattar, Donald Wolf, Darby Longoria, Alison Rickerl, Eva Zubel, and Stephanie Anders, as well as 12 great-grandchildren: Brigett Yurttas, Sheldon Wolf, Jordan Wolf, David Jattar, Austin Childs, Holly Jattar, Meglyn Rickerl, Morgan Wolf, Madison Rickerl, Valerie Zubel, Zachary Zubel, and Bailey Longoria, all from the Houston area. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews in Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Texas. The family will hold visitation from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, at San Jacinto Memorial Funeral Home, Houston. The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 6 at Union Cemetery in Freestone County, where Clytee will be reunited with numerous family members and loved ones.
