Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Palestine Herald - Mar 1, 2007 edition Hila Mae Goggans Hila Mae Goggans, 84, of Wortham, Texas and formerly of Beeville, Texas passed away Feb. 27, 2007 at Cartmell Home for the Aged in Palestine, Texas. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church Wortham with the Rev. Don Johnson and the Rev. Floyd Petersen officiating. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery under the direction of Porter Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Porter Chapel Wortham. Mrs. Goggans was born Nov. 24, 1922 in Richland, Texas to George and Elizabeth McClendon. She graduated valedictorian of her senior class and went on to be a beauty operator. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church Wortham. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas L. and Carol Goggans of Elkhart, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Scott Calkins of Peachtree City, Georgia.; grandson, Matthew Thomas Goggans and wife, Heidi of Mansfield, Texas; granddaughters, Lacey Stevenson and husband, Bryan of Irving, Texas, Leigh Ann Calkins, Allison K. Calkins and Meridith Calkins all of Peachtree City, Georgia; great grandson, Cooper Thomas Goggans of Mansfield, Texas; great granddaughter, Rilee Elizabeth Goggans of Mansfield, Texas; special nephew, Deke McClendon of Corpus Christi, Texas and countless nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Wortham.
