Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle - Feb 22, 2007: JUAN A. GONZALES Juan A. Gonzales, 77, of Jewett, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2007. Juan was born on January 27, 1930, in Farrar, Limestone County, Texas, where he grew up attending schools in Farrar and Fair Oaks. Later he attended Laredo Jr. College and Navarro College where he majored in Business Administration. During the Korean Conflict, Juan served two years in the United States Army Artillery at Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Juan worked for Houston Armature Works in Houston before coming to work at Nucor Steel from which he retired after sixteen years. During his retired years he was a courier for State Bank of Jewett and Donie. Juan is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Gloria Gonzales of Jewett, his son Oscar Perez and wife Lupita of Laredo, his daughters Graciela Valles and husband Martin of LaPorte, Rachel Gonzales of Sugar Land and Rita Davenport and husband Joseph of Conroe, Six grandchildren; Gerry Valles, Melissa Gardner, Marissa Buckalew, Christina Perez, Lisa Perez and Jessica Perez and five great grandchildren; Kayla Valles, Michael Valles, Abigal Gardner, Cole Gardner and Joshua Buckalew. Visitation was held on Sunday, February 18, 2007, followed by a Rosary Service at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial Service was held on Monday, February 19, 2007, at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Centerville. Interment followed the service at Sardis Cemetery near Jewett. Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home of Jewett was in charge of the arrangements.
