Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder newspaper - Thursday, July 13, 2006 edition Joy "J.D." Goodman Funeral services were held Sunday in Lindale for Joy "J.D." Goodman, 74, of Lindale who died Friday, July 7 in a Tyler hospital. Mr. Goodman was born August 10, 1931 in Lindale to Roy and Alta Loma Roberts Goodman, and was a lifelong resident of the Lindale area. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the navy, and was retired from Goodyear Tire after 33 years. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. An avid hunter, he also was a member of the American Legion, United Steel Workers Union #747, Smith CountyPeace Officers Association, the Sheriffs Association of Texas, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He served as a reserve deputy for the Smith County Sheriffs Department for 14 years. Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife, Mackie Fryer Goodman of Lindale; five sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Tracy Goodman of Frankston, Tommy and Kelly Goodman and Keith and Melinda Goodman, all of Lindale; Hubie and Daphne Fryer of Fairfield; and Scott and Sheila Lawrence of Whitehouse; Ten grandchildren, Daniel and Amanda Goodman McAbee of Canton, Daryl Goodman of Lindale, Jordan Goodman of Frankston, Brandon and Christa Goodman of Bossier City, Louisiana; Justin Goodman of Lindale; Tarran and Rusty Williams of Tyler, Ryan Romine of Lindale, Jeffrey Fryer of Fairfield, Schiler and Jayme Lawrence of Whitehouse; and five great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaydee and Levi Williams of Tyler, Kylee Goodman of Bossier City, and Dylan Romine of Arlington. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale, with Rev. Ed Ridge officiating. Burial was at Damascus Cemetery near Lindale. Pallbearers were Benny Dimsdle, Scott Lawrence, Hubie Fryer, Jeffrey Fryer, Dwayne Pritchett, Bobby Goodman, Ted Douglas and Zane Hayes. Honorary pallbearers were Finis Clinton, Bill Logsdon, Errie Austin Winkler and Mike Glass.
