Freestone County, Texas Obituaries JAMES BLAKE GRANBERRY Fairfield Recorder newspaper April 2, 2009 2 area residents killed in wrecks Two people died Sunday in separate vehicle wrecks in Freestone county. Each wreck involved only one vehicle. The first occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on FM 489 near Dew, claiming the life of James Blake Granberry, 19, of Buffalo. Grandberry was driving east on 489 in a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck when he drove off the road on the right near the intersection with FCR 471. Department of Public Safety Trooper Sara Warren reports that the vehicle appeared to be steering back to the left to get back to the roadway, but suddenly veered right, causing the truck to slide sideways and roll. The pickup rolled one and one-half times, coming to rest on top of Granberry who was ejected in the crash. The DPS trooper reports that the 19-year-old was not wearing a seat belt. Granberry was pronounced dead at the scene by Peace Justice Theresa Farris, precinct one. A second fatal wreck occurred about 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of FCR 841 and FCR 826, just over four miles south of Teague. Killed in the second wreck was Jessica Lynn Bonner, 26, of Teague. DPS Trooper Michael Adams reports that Mrs. Bonner was driving north at an unsafe speed on 941 in a 1995 Chevrolet Lumina sedan. The vehicle veered off the road on a curve, crossed 926, hit a fence and rolled, coming to rest upside down. Adams reports that the 26-year-old was partially ejected in the wreck and was not wearing a seat belt.
