Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [His marker at Rehobath/Rehoboth cemetery marks him as H.W. while the obituary lists him as W.H. ] Fairfield Recorder newspaper - July 29, 1898 issue Young Locals July 27, 1898 It is [with] regret that we chronicle the death of W.H. Granberry, who quietly passed away on the 23d inst. at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Medaris. Bro. Granberry had been in failing health for some time and his death was not wholly unexpected. Our community has lost in him a good citizen, the church a faithful member and the Sunday school a good councilor. He frequently spoke of death saying it had no terror for him and a few days before he died he asked the minister and church members to pray for him that he might if possible recover, but for the will of God to be accomplished and he would be contented. He studied his bible, attended church and Sunday school and often he would advise the young people of his acquaintance to obey God and live up to their duty. He leaves an aged companion and two children to mourn the loss of husband and father. To them we would say, weep not as those who have no hope for you know where your treasure is, and some day is "sweet beyond" there will [be] a grand reunion; there will be no more parting and "while tears are wiped away".
