Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Corsicana Daily Sun - February 8, 2007 Edward Grant Sr. - 02/08/07 Edward Grant Sr., 88, of Streetman passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at New Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Earnest Betts officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hall Cemetery in Winkler. Pallbearers will be Mark Grant, Michael Grant, William Grant, Kenneth Torrance, Joseph Shed and Charles Grant. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Bryant, Freddie Clark, Robert Lewis Bryant, Samuel Bryant, James Grant and Colby Grant. Mr. Grant was born April 28, 1918, in Winkler. He was a faithful member of the AME Church in Winkler until his health failed. He was a longtime farmer and rancher of Freestone County. His hobbies included working in the yard, gardening, fishing, reading and spending time with his dogs, Dusty and Ben. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Martha Grant; four brothers, Joseph Grant, Bryant T. Grant, Louis Charles Grant and Dewey Grant; four sisters, Elnora, Ora B., Lula Mae and Irene; and one son, Wiley James Grant. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Betts Grant of Streetman; one son, Edward Grant Jr. (Gracie) of Streetman; four daughters, Gladys Hall (Joe) of Kerens, Bobbie Torrance (Walter) of Fort Worth, Minnie Shed of Arlington, and Erma Eatmon (Joe) of Fairfield; 26 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
