Freestone County, Texas Obits Jacksonville Daily Progress newspaper Karl Devoe Greene Services for Karl Devoe Greene, 95, of Rusk, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at First Baptist Church of Rusk, with the Rev. Lee Welch and the Rev. Jim Goforth officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Driver Cemetery in Teague, under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home of Rusk. Mr. Greene died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at his residence. He was born Dec. 18, 1910, in Teague. He was a resident of Rusk for 29 years, of Houston for 40 years, and of Teague 26 years. He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Rusk. He was also a charter member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church in Houston, where he was a deacon and served in other offices. Mr. Greene owned and operated Greene’s Hardware and Variety Store in Houston for 26 years before his retirement in 1975. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosa Greene, and two brothers, Paul and Donnie Greene. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Clara Greene of Rusk; daughter and son- in-law, Nancy and JoEd Anderson of Rusk; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Greene of Rusk; grandson, Danny Anderson and wife Kimberly of Lawrence, Kansas; grandson, Craig Anderson and wife Kim of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter, Karla Thrash and husband Bobby of Rusk; grandson, Chad Greene and wife Tammy of Rusk; great-granddaughters, Lauren and Greta Anderson of Phoenix; great-grandson and great-granddaughter, Charles Guard and Julia Guard of Lawrence; great-granddaughter, Erin Thrash of Rusk; great-grandson, Trey Thrash of Rusk; great-granddaughter, Kelsey Greene of Rusk; and great-grandson, Colton Greene. Pallbearers will be Danny Anderson, Craig Anderson, Chad Greene, Bobby Thrash, Kenneth Curtis and Norman Curtis. Honorary pallbearers are the Brotherhood Sunday School Class and deacons of First Baptist Church of Rusk. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at the funeral home.
