Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Clara Lucille (Curtis) Greene [She is buried at Driver Cemetery west of Fairfield] Tyler Morning Telegraph 12/30/2006 edition RUSK - Services for Clara Lucille Greene, 92, Rusk, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the new First Baptist Church in Rusk with the Revs. Lee Welch and Jim Goforth officiating. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. in Driver Cemetery under direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk. Mrs. Greene died Dec. 29, 2006, in a Jacksonville hospital. She was born Nov. 2, 1914, in Donie to the late Thomas Oliver and Emily Parazade Howell Curtis. She was a Rusk resident for 31 years and formerly lived in Teague for 20 years and Houston for 41 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Rusk, where she taught the Lydia Sunday School Class for many years. She was active in the Women's Missionary Union. She was a charter member of Houston's Cloverleaf Baptist Church. Mrs. Greene and her late husband Karl owned and operated Greene's Hardware and Variety Store in Houston for 26 years and after retirement built and sold wood furniture. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Greene, Jan. 22, 2006; two sisters, Betty Stovall and Fayrene Curtis; and three brothers, Cecil Curtis, Bruce Curtis and Robert Curtis. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Anderson, Rusk; a son, Steve Greene, Rusk; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will include Danny Anderson, Craig Anderson, Chad Greene, Bobby Thrash, Kenny Curtis, and Norman Curtis. Honorary pallbearers will be the Lydia Sunday School Class.
