Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Michael W. Griffith Funeral services for Mr. Michael W. Griffith, 65, will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Interment will follow the services at Birdston Cemetery near Streetman. Visitation was on Monday with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Griffith passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Providence Hospital in Waco. He was born in Waco, but lived almost all of his life in Freestone County, and graduated from Teague High School with the Class of 1965. Mr. Griffith served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam for two years. He was worked as an electrician and was employed at the Big Brown Plant in Fairfield for over thirty years. Mr. Griffith was a former member of the Teague Volunteer Fire Department. Mike married Karlene on March 9, 2007. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved fast cars, especially Corvettes. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching the Texas Rangers. Mr. Griffith was a Baptist by Faith. He is survived by his wife, Karlene Griffith of Teague; one daughter, April Hedrick & husband Warren of Cotton Gin, three sons, Aaron Griffith & wife Staci of Teague, Justin Gonzales & wife Miranda of Streetman, and Benton Gonzales & wife Kelly of Donie; five grandchildren, Kendal Griffith, Reid Krenek, Kassidy Griffith, Addyson Gonzales, and Braxton Gonzales; his father, Wendel Griffith of Cotton Gin; one sister, Pam Jordan & husband S. B.; two nieces, Brandy Kerr & husband Jason, and Jaime Hardy & husband Tim; one nephew, Slade Jordan & wife Jenna; two great-nephews and one great-niece, Jacob, Lucas, and Jayce Hardy; other relatives and friends. Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Louise Griffith.
