Cullen C. Gunter
Graveside services for Cullen C. Gunter, 92, of Fairfield, were held 10:00 a.m. 
Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Lake Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Capps Memorial Chapel.

Cullen was born October 27, 1919 in the Young Community of Freestone County to 
parents W. C. and Lelar Freeman Gunter. He was a lifetime area resident and was 
a retired self-employed truck driver. He married Ellen Scruggs on June 24, 1944. 
Mr. Gunter died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in Tyler.

His wife, Ellen, preceded him in death on August 1, 2009. He was also preceded 
in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are two children, James Don Gunter and wife Janna Sue 
of Fairfield; Mary Ellen Golden and husband Richard of Fairfield; a brother, 
J. C. Gunter of Tyler; five grandchildren, James Gunter, Jr. of Fairfield; 
Kristi Chick and husband Roger of Bullard; Betty Louise Taylor of Lake Worth; 
William Herman Golden of Newport, TN; Austin Golden of New Tazewell, TN; one 
great-granddaughter, Sierra Schick of Bullard; two step-great-grandchildren, 
Montana and Zachary Chick of Bullard.
