Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle - May 10, 2007 edition ROYCE D. HAMMOND Funeral services for Mr. Royce D. Hammond, 51, were held on Friday, May 4, 2007, at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Rev. James Engle and Rev. Billy Bob Evans officiated. Mr. Hammond passed away in an automobile accident on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in Leon County near Centerville. Mr. Hammond was born in Hillsboro and moved frequently with his family as a child, growing up mostly in Crockett, Houston and Jewett. He graduated from Leon High School in 1973 and promptly joined the United States Air Force. After his military service he became a law enforcement officer and worked for the Border Patrol, Limestone County, Falls County and Robertson County and was presently working as a Civil Process Server. He loved baseball and softball and was quite good at both. Mr. Hammond was a Baptist by faith. He is survived by his daughters Shanna Schultz and husband Cody, Amber Hammond and Lizzy Hammond, his granddaughter Hallie Schultz and his mother Lois Hammond all of Jewett. He is also survived by his sister Betty Whitehead and husband Anthony of Huffman, his brother Gary Hammond and wife Shelia of Magnolia, his sister-in-law Mary Hammond of Jewett and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by his father Herman F. Hammond, his brothers Charles Hammond and Jimmy Hammond and his sister-in-law Mozette Hammond. Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home of Jewett was in charge of the arrangements.
