Hartley were held Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Billy Bob Evans officiated. Interment followed the service at Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery in Limestone County. Serving as pallbearers were, Andy Hartley, Brandon Hartley, Joseph Hartley, Bill Hunt, Bobby Carlisle, and Dale Sanders. Mr. Hartley passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006 at his home in Pasadena, Texas. He was born and raised in Teague. He graduated from Teague High School in the class of 1949. Joe enjoyed playing football and being active in FFA during his days at T.H.S. He worked for a number a years for the Rock Island and Burlington Northern Railroad as a brakeman and retired from the Port Terminal Railroad in Houston. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Teague. He married his high school sweetheart and is survived by his wife of over fifty-two years, Shirley Petty Hartley of Pasadena; one son, Andy Hartley & wife Salma of LaPorte; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Joseph, & Brandi Hartley all of Santa Fe, Tx and Nadia, Andrew, James, & Andrea Hartley all of LaPorte; one daughter- in-law, Sherri Hartley Campbell of Santa Fe, Tx; two sisters, Marie McSpadden & husband Billy and Jane Traynham all of Teague; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. Billy Bob Evans officiating. Burial was at Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery in Limestone county.
