From Capps Funeral Home website: BILL HAYNES September 24, 1938 - May 19, 2012 BIOGRAPHY William Donald (Bill) Haynes, 73, of Fairfield, died Saturday, May 19, 2012. Bill was born September 24, 1938 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, to parents Donald Raymond and Virginia Marie Griggs Haynes and raised by his grandparents. Bill was a rancher and owner of the Oxbow Ranch in Fairfield. He started riding bareback horses in high school. While most kids his age had $5.00 in their pockets, Bill Haynes had $500.00! He finished high school and put himself through college, earning a degree in advertising from his winnings on the rodeo circuit, riding saddle broncs. Bill could sell anything. He had an amazing gift of gab. He suffered many injuries while rodeoing, riding with broken bones like most cowboys did in those days. In the early 70’s, after three years off and at 30 years of age, he placed 2nd at the International Finals Rodeo in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bill has many dear friends and a few not so dear friends all across the United States. He rodeoed all over this country, Canada, Jamaica and Mexico. He was known as the “Classiest Cowboy” on the rodeo circuit. He rode in custom silk suits or flashy, bib-front shirts. Bill didn’t believe in “I can’t”, he always could and did. He was a very charismatic and colorful person. Known as the life of the party; from beginning to end, he lived life his way. He and his wife Judy were married on March 29, 2007 in Fairfield. Bill was known for his love of animals and especially his six dogs; Ox, Bow, Hamley, Baby, Jack and Jill. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Judy of the Oxbow Ranch in Fairfield; daughters, Trish Haynes O’Brien, St. George, UT, Brooke Haynes Tazbaz and husband Tom of Prospect, KY; a step-daughter, Kate Midkiff Sparks and husband Mike of San Marcos; a sister, “Poonie” Scotten of Van Nuys, CA; grandchildren, Marce and Harper Tazbaz of Prospect, KY and Rebecca (Ruby) Sparks of San Marcos and many friends.
