The deceased was taken ill some weeks ago, it is thought, with the prevailing fever, dengue, and was at one time convalescent, then getting up too soon, he relapsed and gradually grew worse until the final end came. Mr. Watson was the junior member of a well-known firm of C. L. Watson, and brother and had lived in Mexia for the last ten years. The deceased was well-known as a most pleasant, sociabable gentleman and generous liberal hearted man. He was held in high esteem in his town and had for several years through his position in the municipal government of his town, repeatedly tendered him and recognition of his good practical sense and sterling business qualities. His untimely death just as he had about reached meridian of life is a sad stroke of fate to his many warm friends andrelatives and escpecially to his bereaved family - a wife and three little children. The deceased was born in Tennessee but came to this county with his parents, when but a few years old. He was raised in this county and lived there until he moved to Mexia, and was the youngest one of his four brothers, Messrs. W. T., C. L. and A. T. Watson. His remains were interred last Wednesday morning in Mexia cemetery and followed to the grave by a large concourse of citizens and by the Masonic Fraternity and the Knights of Honor, both of which societies paid his memory the honor of their impressive burial ceremonies. A kind loving hearted man has gone. Peace to his ashes."
