Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder - September 3, 2009 Charlotte Huckaby Hemby Funeral services were held Aug. 29 for Charlotte Huckaby Hemby, 74, who died Aug. 26. The services were held at Griffin- Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Spain Trask officiating. Graveside services were held at the Mixon Cemetery near Troup. Mrs. Hemby was born to William (Billy) Owens Huckaby and Naomi Granberry on August 6, 1935. The Huckaby family arrived in Texas in 1849. They were cattlemen and one of the pioneer families of Fairfield. The Granberry family was also cattlemen who were from the Young community. Mrs. Hemby was very proud of her heritage in Freestone County. She loved the furniture and memorabilia of her pioneer roots. She always felt that she was the caretaker of her family heirlooms. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Jimmy "Piddler" Hemby, two daughters, Rene Stovall and her husband Scott, and Cindy Steele and husband Doug, all of Troup; Sons Randy Authement of Boerne and Ricky Authement of Albuquerque, New Mexico, seven grandchildren (her special treasures), and a great granddaughter (a really special treasure); Sister Bettye Trask and her husband Spain of Fairfield, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of other family and friends, including her special friends Mozelle, Ruth and Maxine.
