DIED
  Mrs. Martha Hendrix, wife of Mr. J. A. Hendrix, north of town, who has been 
ill some weeks, died last Sunday. The deceased was about 60 years old, and had 
been in feeble health for a year or more. For several weeks she had been 
suffering a great deal and her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Hendrix was a 
daughter of the late Champion Echols of this county. She came to Freestone 
about thirty years ago from Tennessee. The deceased was a good Christian lady, 
and leaves to mourn her loss an aged husband and three children, all of whom 
are grown, and also many relatives and friends. Her remains were interred 
Monday, at the old Dr. Winter's place, which was on the homestead of her father. 
A large number of people were in attendance, relatives and friends of the 
family.
