Freestone County, Texas Obits Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home website Marguerite (Stricklin) Hicks (April 27, 1919 - September 14, 2006) Funeral services for Mrs. Marguerite Hicks will be held Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly God Church in Teague. Rev. Robert Sullivan and Rev. Crawford Sprabary will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Hicks was born April 27, 1919 and passed away September 14, 2006 at the Haven Nursing Home in Mexia. She was a Baptist, but later joined First Assembly Of God Church in Teague, was an avid bible reader and studier in her later years, enjoyed making afghans, hand work and loved cooking special meals for her family. She worked as an LVN for the old Teague Hospital, Mexia, Wortham, and Teague General Hospitals until retiring. She worked under Drs. Gage, Cox and Halbert. After retiring she went back to work for McGee Nursing before retiring the final time. Serving as casket bearers are: Danny Morris, Mike Morris, Brad Hicks, Joe Lane, Merle Thornton & Kenneth Nichols. She is survived by her son, Allen Greer Hicks & wife Claudette of Fairfield and daughters, Aerial ( Bobbie) Silverstar of Austin and Jimmi Joyce Nichols & husband Kenneth of Teague ,grandchildren, Brad Hicks & wife Erin of Fairfield, Kristin Nichols of Austin and Kimberly Pendergrass & husband Dalton of Teague. Four great grandchildren, Greer Hicks, Holden Hicks, Payton Bolton and Tyson Watkins. Sister, Pamela Ingram & husband Stanley of Kosse and brother, John Stricklin & wife Billie of Mt. Home Idaho. Numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, R.G. ( Jimmy) Hicks and parents, Mable & John Stricklin and sibilings, Wesley Stricklin, Herbert Stricklin, Patsy Horton, Jane Holt ,Fuller Stricklin and Loretta Morris. Mrs. Hicks was born April 27, 1919 in Mart to Mable and John Stricklin. She worked as an LVN at various hospitals, including Mexia, Wortham and Teague, and worked with Drs. Gage, Cox and Halbert. After retiring from nursing, she went to work at McGee Nursing Home before retiring the final time. She was a Baptist, but later joined the First Assembly of God Church in Teague. Home, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.G. (Jimmy) Hicks; her parents, Mable and John Stricklin; and siblings Wesley Stricklin, Herbert Stricklin, Patsy Horton, Loretta Morris, Jane Holt and Fuller Stricklin.
