Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Freestone County Times June 2, 2009 Issue Page: 10-B Myldred (Burleson) Hill Myldred Burleson Hill, born on July 22,1917, departed this world to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 28,2009 at the age of 91 years. A descendant of Ruphus C. Burleson, early founder and President of Baylor University. Born to Roy & Lenoire Best Burleson, she is preceded in life on this earth by both of her parents, her grandparents George and Betty Burleson, and her husband F.R.(Richard) Hill. She is survived in life by her first cousin, like a brother, Lee Judson Davis, her two sons and daughter and their spouses, six grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren. Son, F.R.Jr.(Dickie) and Mary Hill, son Roy W. and Edwina C. Hill, and her daughter Marilyn Hill Toomey and Tom Toomey. Her six grandchildren and their spouses Rich Hill, Fred Hill and wife Demar, John Hill and wife Lindsay, Terrance Toomey, Jacqueline Toomey, and Caleb Toomey, and her four greatgrandchildren Hayden and Cade Hill (John) and Sarie and Emma Hill (Fred). A love for God, children, family, flowers, people, her home town and good movies were her passions. She realized early on in her life that there was no place on this earth you could be closer to God than in the garden. Her yard on Reunion Street always exhibited her love of nature and beautiful flowers which give us all a breath of life. “When there is a crisis in your life sit on the front porch and collect your thoughts while looking at the flowers” she always said to us. And you know, it worked. For many years her innovative style of teaching young children in her Sunday School class of First Baptist church using flannel graph material and figures truly lead whole generations of children to the Lord. Her personal example and witness has truly been a lifetime blessing to this entire community. She taught each of us children how to love and care about others. We were taught that is was better to give the best that one had to give to others than to receive. Our parent’s daily presence in our lives gave us a shining example of how to be a family and live a life of peace, joy, family values and love. “Having God in your family, loving each other, spending quality time with one another, and being tolerant and forgiving of one another’s short comings” she felt were the keys to a successful life and family. Her actions showed it in every way each day of our lives. Love truly does conquer all in the end. Our Mom loved to watch good movies that were inspirational and that had good family values that taught us that good will prevail and honesty and integrity are the foundation of all of life. She prayed each day for our family, our city, our churches, our Country and anyone in need. “The power of prayer” she said “will get you through the most difficult of times in your life.” The examples that she taught and lived in her daily walk through life showed us how to care and love others more than ourselves. Our Mama truly was the epitome of a true “Southern Woman” filled with elegance, grace and a love for others and will be truly missed by all who knew her. Pall Barriers: Richard Bowie Hill, W.
