Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Wanda L. (Tipping) Hogan TEAGUE, Texas – Wanda L. Hogan, 84, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010, at her residence in Kirvin. She was born September 10, 1926 in Dawson, Texas, to Loys Marvin Tipping Sr. and Lula Calhoun Tipping. She graduated from Dowdy High School in 1945. After graduation, she married J. Frank Croft Jr. She began her life of service as a caregiver to her family with husband Frank’s illness and death in 1959. In 1972, Wanda graduated from New Braunfels School of Vocational Nursing; shortly afterwards she married William P. Hicks, who died in 1973. In time, Wanda married Johnny Hogan of Kirvin and lived a ranching life, sharing time between the ranch near Tilden, Texas, and their home in Kirvin. Johnny passed away in 2001. Wanda subsequently made her home in Kirvin, where she was a member of Kirvin Baptist Church. She also continued her membership in the Eastern Star organization for more than 50 years. She enjoyed traveling to new places, playing dominoes, visiting with friends and family, and her crochet projects. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Frank Croft, Bill Hicks and John Hogan; one son, John (Ricky) Hogan Jr.; her parents, Loys Marvin and Lula Tipping; and one brother, Delma Tipping. Survivors include three sons, Frank (Mary) Croft of Kirvin, Texas, Preston (Stacy) Croft of Needville, Texas, and Robert Croft of Victoria, Texas; two brothers, Harold (Peggy) Tipping of LaMarque and L. M. (Peggy) Tipping of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Wilma (Lawrence) Stokes; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Wanda L. Hogan were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague with Bro. Jason Lasher officiating. Interment followed at Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Bowers Funeral Home, Teague, Texas.
