  Jan. 8 - J. W. Hooks died Dec. 28.  Mr. Hooks had been a citizen of this 
community for a number of years and had many friends who regret his death. He
leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his death.

  Jan. 4 - The community regrets very much to hear of the sad death of John 
Hooks, of Israel, Saturday Dec. 28.  He was called away very suddenly with
pneumonia, and was laid to rest, Sunday in the Woodland cemetery. He leaves a
wife and several small children to mourn his death. Weep not for your loved one
for your loss is God's gain. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved.
