Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Teague Chronicle March 18, 2010 edition EDITH (TAYLOR) HORTON Funeral services for Mrs. Edith (Taylor) Horton, 91, were held on Friday, March 12, 2010, at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. Bro. Steve Cowart and Bro. Scott McKay officiated. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Edith was born to Oscar E. and Nettie (Brennan) Taylor at Bynum, in Hill County, Texas on July 3, 1918, and grew up there. Mrs. Horton was married to James (Jim) Thomas Horton on August 7, 1942. They were married for fifty- eight years until his death in 2001. She moved to Teague on February 8, 1958, and has been a faithful member of Eighth Ave. Baptist Church since that time. Mrs. Horton passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Nettie Taylor; husband, Jim Horton; infant son, James Melvin Horton; son, Thomas Earl Horton; granddaughter, Anna Lee Campbell; sisters, Clora Puckett, Thelma Bottom and Nell Chapman; brothers, Murl Taylor, Melvin Taylor(infant), Vergil Taylor and Truett Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Kotzbauer and husband Dave of Lake Jackson; her granddaughter, Edie Campbell of Freeport; three great- grandchildren, Allie Cates of Lake Jackson, Taylor Horton, and Adelyn Horton both of Freeport; brother-in-law, Nick Horton and wife Kathern of Corsicana; numerous nieces and nephews; other special family members which include Heidi Kotzbauer and son, Aaron of Angleton; Bill Kotzbauer and wife, Laura and family of Freeport and Karen Kotzbauer of North Hills, California.
