TX - Obits for H. Ross Jones [Hubbard Ross Jones] Odessa American newspaper - January 11, 2001 edition "ODESSA - H. Ross Jones, 81, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at a local nursing home. He was born March 1, 1919, in Teague. He married Freddie Mae Power Dec. 24, 1942, in Big Spring. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He moved to Odessa in 1942. Mr. Hubbard was the first person he met when he came to Odessa, and they had a long and lasting friendship. Mr. Jones was a member of Belmont Baptist Church for 40 years where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was chairman of the deacons for one term. He was retired district manager for Teledyne Merla. He was a well loved husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ross and Clara Jones, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors are his wife, Freddie Mae Jones of Odessa; daughter, Nancy Sherian Jones of Odessa; brothers, James L. Jones of Pasadena; and sister, Mary Pryor of Teague. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Belmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Rex Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
