E. Huckaby, an aged and respected lady, died at her home here Wednesday night, Oct. 22, at 11 o'clock. Death was caused by pneumonia. Mrs. Huckaby was nearly 87 years old, and was one of Freestone's oldest residents. =================================================================== Fairfield Recorder newspaper - Nov. 7, 1902 issue Mrs. E. P. Huckaby, wife of the late Col. John F. Huckaby, quietly passed away at her residence in Fairfield Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1902, at 10:30 p.m. aged 86 years and 8 months. Mrs. Huckaby was born in Wilkes county, Ga., February 12, 1816, removing to Dallas county, Ala., at an early day, thence to Freestone county, Texas, in the fall of 1850, residing continuously in Fairfield to the date of her death. One son and daughter survive her: Mr. F. R. Huckaby and Mrs. Fannie Fryer. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She was laid to rest beside her husband and children; funeral services conducted by Bros. Brown and Russell. W. H. Mrs. Huckaby was nearly 87 years old, and was one of Freestone's oldest residents. She leaves a large number of relatives and friends, who mourn because of the death of a good woman.
