Freestone County, Texas Obituaries/Death Notices [Obit of Mr. Allen Huffman] The Teague Chronicle - Thursday, February 3, 1938 - Page: 5 PASSING OF A DONIE BUSINESS MAN Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church at 10:30 Wednesday morning tor Mr. Allen Huffman, who passed away at his home at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, at the age of 42 years. Rev. L. W. Shivers, Methodist pastor of Tehuacana, conducted the service with the assistance of Rev. Walter Bogers, pastor of the Methodist church at Donie. Interment was in the Union cemetery at 12:30 o’clock Wednesday with Ham Funeral Service in charge. Pall bearers were Mr. Huffman’s business associates, R. S. Gilliam, J. D. Hudson, A. B. Laiftberth, Alvis Oakes, Jack Eppes, Jr., and Rufus Bond. Although Mr. Huffman had not been strong for several years, he was ill for only a short time. Survivors are his father, Jim Huffman, four sislers, Mrs. Bert Savage, Mrs. George Fulton, Miss Oma Huffman of Donie and Mrs. Carlos Jolly of Houston; four brothers, Alvin, Melton, Jesse of Donie, and Clarence of the New Hope community; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Huffman was one of Donie’s most succesful men, being the senior member of the firm of Huffman & Savage. He was a member of the Methodist church. He had many friends and was ever ready to give helpful service to his family, friends and town. Reported.
