Freestone County, Texas Obituary The Fairfield Recorder newspaper - Thursday, July 27, 2006 edition Emma Jean (Ditto) Hughes Funeral services were held July 17 for Emma Jean Hughes, 73, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia who died July 13 at War Memorial Hospital in Morgan County, West Virginia. Born May 10, 1933 in Morgan county, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Ditto. She was a graduate of Berkeley Springs H.S. and Cedar Valley College. She was a retired teacher’s assistant of Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, Texas. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, the Texas Retired Teachers Association, Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Services were conducted at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Glen Strickler officiating. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Hughes is survived by her husband of 48 years, Raymond G. "Dirk" Hughes of Berkeley Springs; a son, Dirk Hughes and wife Stephanie of White Oak, Texas; grandson Troy Hughes and wife Cindy of Dallas; a brother, Bill Ditto and wife Betty of Berkeley Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home.
