Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Submitted by Billie Bournias [Max died 13 July 1998] Max Hunter Funeral services were held last week at Fairfield Harmony Presbyterian Church for Max Hunter, 75, of Fairfield who died Monday, July 13, at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Mr. Hunter was born July 13, 1920, in Fairfield, served in the Rainbow 42nd Infantry Division during World War II, was a retired vocational agriculture teacher and rancher, and was a member of First National Bank board of directors. He was a member of Fairfield Harmony Presbyterian Church and Fairfield Masonic Lodge No. 286 AF&AM. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, with Dr. Jim Gooch officiating. Special music was provided by organist Leslie Freeman. Burial was at Fairfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Smith, Dwayne Farrell, Johnny McVey, Russ Meggs, Jeff Clark, and Jack Albright. Honorary pallbearers were Jerald Meggs, Earl Gilbert, John Carr, Waide Petsick and the FNB board of directors. Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Sara Ashcroft Hunter; and a sister, Ruth Virginia Hunter. Arrangements were made by Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.
