Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News - Sunday, September 4, 1955 - Page 1 Mrs. Ara Hunter Funeral Rites In Mexia Sunday Funeral services will be held at the Grace Island A. M. E. Church at 4:3 p.m. this Sunday for Mrs. Ara Hunter, 70-year old Mexia Negro woman who died in a Teague hospital Friday. Services will be conducted by the Rev. R. C. Culbuson, pastor of the Antioch Primitive Bap list church of Teague. Burial will be in the Grove Island cemetery with the Dorsey-Keatts Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hunter was born in Mexia on Oct. 15, 1884, and lived here all of her life. She was a member of the Union Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Sam Hunter, Mexia; two daughters, Mrs. Eddie Mae Brooks and Mrs. Gladys Mae Walker, both of Mexia; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Livingston, Mexia; two sons, Ruben J. Hunter, Houston, and Willie James Hunter, Dallas; 21 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
