Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [This is Mattie Pearl (Carter) Ingram-Jones Aug 1, 1930 - Mar 31, 2009] Corsicana Daily Sun - 4/3/2009 and 4/4/2009 issues Mattie Pearl Jones Mattie Pearl Jones, 78, was born in Dallas County on Aug. 1, 1930, to parents Lawrence "Jack" Carter and Georgia Gentry Carter. She received her formal education in Freestone County and professed a faith in Christ at an early age. She met and married James Ingram Jr. and to this union four children were born: James, Pamela, John and Bob. She later married the Rev. Clem Jones and to this union one child was born: Crissandra. Mattie Pearl led an inspiring life. In her early 40s, she received her GED and enrolled in the Navarro College nursing program where she earned her L.V.N. license. She worked for many years as an L.V.N. at Mel-Haven Convalescent Home and ended her career at Westside Development Center. She became a member of Harmony Baptist Church and served in many capacities. She was a member of the choir and also a member of the Friendship Auxiliary where she served as a teacher. She was also a licensed minister, and served as Navarro County directress for the Friendship District Association. Later she united with Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church where she was one of the mothers of the church. She was also a member of the Women AGLOW and Navarro County Ministers' Wives. Mattie Pearl was a great source of wisdom, inspiration and strength. She departed this life Tuesday, March 31, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and six brothers; husband, the Rev. Clem Jones; daughter, Crissandra Jones Lee; and granddaughter, Angel Thibodeaux. She leaves to cherish her memories four children: James (Ruth) Ingram and John (Cher') Ingram, all of DeSoto, Pamela (Charles) Colbert of Corsicana, and Bob Ingram of Dallas; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of cousins and friends. Wake service will be 7 p.m. today at Ross and Johnson Mortuary Chapel with expressions of love given at this time. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church, 400 S. 15th St., with the Rev. Samuel Washington officiating and Pastor Alvin E. Smith as eulogist. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dante' Williams, Joshua Wright, Vernon Colbert, Jason Ingram, Leon Tilley and Billy Hubbard.
