Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle - 15 Apr 2010 issue JAMES HENRY IRELAND Funeral services for James Henry Ireland were held on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Officiating were pastors Ken Pruitt and Sammie Cumby and interment was at Shiloh Cemetery in Fairfield. James was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on June 28, 1948, to the late James Ireland, Sr. and Helen Washington Ireland. He graduated from Scottlandville High School in Baton Rouge and received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern University in Baton Rouge. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone, was self-employed in the trucking industry, worked for The Texas Department of Criminal Justice and was an Algebra teacher in the Fairfield Independent School district. He was an ordained minister and for more than 20 years he worked in Prison Ministry. James and Beth Gibson Ireland have been married for over 25 years and have two children, Felicia and Philip. James is best remembered for his humility, mild manner, calming temperament, his persistence, love, and gentle spirit. Mr. Ireland passed away quietly on April 8, 2010, at M.D. Anderson Hospital, Houston, Texas, among loving family and devoted friends. His parents have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Beth Gibson Ireland of Fairfield, his children Philip Ireland Haviland of Kansas and Felicia Ireland of Houston; his uncles Samuel Watkins, Freddie Watkins and Spencer Sylvester all of Natchez, Mississippi; his aunts Adell Quinn, Edna Johnson and Pearl Watkins all of Natchez, Mississippi. Pallbearers were Bernard Jackson, Joseph Jackson, Daniel Watkins, Gregory Gibson, Danny Gibson and Alwyn Gibson. Moore's Angelic Funeral Home of Teague is serving the Ireland family.
