Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Teague Chronicle December 13, 2007 edition THERESA VIOLET FREEMAN JACKSON Funeral services for Mrs. Theresa Violet Freeman Jackson were held on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Grove Island African Methodist Episcopal Church. Reverend Stanley Johnson, Pastor. Reverend Alfred B. Iglehart was officiating minister and interment was at Grove Island Cemetery. Mrs. Jackson was born on April 21, 1939, in Limestone County, Texas and passed away on Friday, November 30, 2007, at Brentwood Place Three in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Jackson was reared in the Sandy Community and was a resident of Mexia, Texas for fifty years. Mrs. Jackson worked at the Mexia State School and retired after more than twenty years of service as a teacher. Her community services included: Charter member of the League of Involved Women serving in many leadership positions; National Association of the Advancement of Colored People and Nineteenth Organization. She was a member of Grove Island African Methodist Episcopal Church, The African Methodist Episcopal Church Lay Organization; Tenth Episcopal District Women’s Missionary Society; Tenth Episcopal District Finance Committee, Elected to the General Board of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; Bi-Stone County Interdenominational Ushers alliance and Interdenominational Choir. She was a member of the Norris Wright Cuney Order of Eastern Star, McCullough P. Wolridge Chapter No. 12. Mrs. Jackson is survived by her beloved husband of forty-nine years, Mr. Rufus Jackson, Sr.; her sons Mr. Rufus Jackson, Jr. of League City, Texas and Mr. Edward A. Jackson of Lewisville, Texas; her daughters Mrs. Felicia Evans and husband Anthony of Lancaster, Texas and Mrs. Particia Shorter hand husband Reverend Coby Shorter, III of Pflugerville, Texas; her sisters Mrs. Pinkie M. Hester of Dallas, Texas and Mrs. Ruby Hobbs and husband Arthur of Mexia, Texas; her brother-in-law Mr. McKenzie Jackson of Mexia, Texas; sisters-in-law Mrs. Jewell Freeman of Coolidge, Texas, Mrs. Juanita Freeman of Raywood, Texas, Mrs. Rodis Freeman of Austin, Texas, Ms. Dorothy Cox of Dallas, Texas, Ms. Clara Gillespie of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Earlean Livingston of Stockton, California, Mrs. Cornetta Smith and husband Reverend Dayton Smith of Vancouver, Washington, Mrs. Rachel Williams and husband Thomas of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren Derrick L. Forge, Anthony B. Forge, II, Rickie B. Willis, Jeremy R. Wright, Jennifer N. Wright, Jordan N. Jackson, Bryce A. Jackson, Brent A. Jackson, Emma N. Jenkins and Coby Shorter, IV; nine great grandchildren Ajiah B. Forge, Alycia B. Forge, Ashlynn B. Forge, Alexia B. Forge, Anthony B. Forge, III, Kortlin B. Forge, Derrian N.
