FAIRFIELD - A Victoria man was killed north of here early today in car-truck
accident on Interstate 45. Douglas Jewett, 35, was dead at the scene of the 5
a.m. mishap.  Highway patrolman Larry Price of Fairfield said Jewett's car and
a truck driven by Herbert Fortney of Newkirk, Okla., cdfiided about nine and a
half miles north of Fairfield in Freestone County. Price said Jewett apparently
went to sleep and ran into the rear of the tractor trailer truck. Both vehicles
were in the southbound lane.  Jewett's body was taken to Capps Funeral Home in
Fairfield.
