Mexia Daily News - Mar. 8, 2005 edition Bettye Jo Johnson TEAGUE - Mrs. Bettye Jo Johnson, 63, of Teague, died March 1 in Parkview Regional Hospital-Mexia. Born in Freestone County on April 8, 1941, she had also resided in Houston and Dallas, where she was employed with the Dallas Independent School District. In Teague, she was employed with Lovie's Loving Care Day Care Center and with McGee Nursing Home. Mrs. Johnson also had been employed with the Mexia State School. She was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church-Teague, where she was Mother of the Church, President of the Mission Society, Superintendent of the Sunday School, and President of the Choir. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson are scheduled for Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock in First Baptist Church, 209 North 6th Avenue. Officiating will be the Reverends James Lee and Vernon Busby. Burial will be in Grove Island Cemetery-Teague, under direction of Moore's Angelic Funeral Home. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Charles E. Johnson, a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, and wife Mironda of Fort Worth; two daughters, Sonia Lavel Johnson and Angela Marie Johnson, both of Teague; two sisters, Etta Ruth Thomas and husband Jasper of Houston, and Claudine (Baby Honey) Sloan Henderson and husband Leroy of Highlands, California; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Wade Allen Demus, Antwond Anthony, Albert Randle, Travis Lane Baty, Robert Harvey, David Frazier and Thomas Reeves.
