Freestone County, Texas Obits The Teague Chroncile - May 3, 2007 BERTHA ORENA FREEMAN JOHNSON Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Orena Freeman Johnson, 98, were held on Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Mexia, Texas. Interment followed the service at Pt. Enterprise Cemetery. Bertha Orena Freeman Johnson was born on September 24, 1908, near Mexia. She grew up in this area and was married to George A. Johnson on September 27, 1928. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson resided near Mexia until November 1946. At that time the family moved to Casper, Wyoming where Mr. Johnson was employed by Standard Oil Company. Mrs. Johnson lived in Casper until 1963, when Mr. Johnson retired and they returned to Mexia. Mr. Johnson passed away on July 20, 1977. Mrs. Johnson remained in Mexia until 1993 when she moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. In April 1996 she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to live with her son. Mrs. Johnson lived in Atlanta until the time of her death. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by her son Jerry D. Johnson, two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers at her funeral were her nephews: Paul Freeman, Mickey Freeman, Ronald W. Freeman, Billy G. Freeman, Edwin Freeman and Douglas Freeman. Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home of Mexia was in charge of the arrangements.
