Freestone County, Texas Obits Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 30, 2005 Nina Catherine (Cannon) Johnson Nina Catherine Cannon Johnson, 87, of Amarillo died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with Walt Ellis and Glen Gammill, both pastors of Forest Hill Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Fairfield to Elbert Americus Cannon and Mary Elizabeth Burns Cannon. She married Lloyd Johnson in Clovis, N.M., on Nov. 11, 1932. She worked many years at Doche Cleaners and retired from Levi Strauss in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Nina Helen Thomason; her parents; two sisters, Evelyn Geneva Long and Grace Elizabeth Boone; a brother, Hillman John Cannon; a grandson, Michael Ray Johnson; and two great-granddaughters, Amber Leigh Underwood and Latosha Underwood. Survivors include a son, Richard and wife, LaRue; a brother, Elbert Americus Cannon Jr.; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
