Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Herbert “Manie” Malford Jonas Herbert “Manie” Malford Jonas, 77, of Fairfield passed away, Thursday, May 29, 2014. He was born August 27, 1936 in San Antonio to Herbert C. Jonas and Eleanor Kruse Jonas. He retired from CONTEL Telephone Company in Fairfield. He served as a sergeant in the Texas National Guard for 13 years out of New Braunfels. He was in the 36th Infantry Division and was a member of the National Guard Band. He and his wife enjoyed to go square dancing. He also attended church at Round Prairie Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Patsy J. Jonas; eight children, Sharon Lynn Jonas, Linda Sue Mullen, Carol Ann Stanley, Sandra Lee Simpson, Cynthia Ann Smith, Carla Gay Crowley, Darla Kay Bottoms and John Thomas Massey; one sister, Bernie Ruth Leader; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation was Friday, May 30, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Fairfield. Service were held 2:00 pm Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Ed Ridge officiating. Burial followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Evan Simpson, Jeremiah Simpson, Samuel Mullen, Chris Lehman, Steven Rogers and Marc Webster. Honorary Pallbearers are Eric Simpson, Marvin Mullen, Andy Stanley, J.W. Bottoms, Andy Crowley, Larry Smith and Tommy Massey.
