Freestone County, Texas Obits Mexia Daily News - October 06, 2006 Inez Dawkins Jones Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Marie Jones, 69, will be Sunday afternoon, October 8, 2006, at 2 o’clock in First United Methodist Church, 203 North Canton Street, Mexia. The Rev. Kenneth McGrudder of Andrew Chapel Primitive Baptist Church of Groesbeck, will officiate. Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home of Teague is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2006, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A wake service is scheduled for this evening from 6 until 7 o’clock. Mrs. Inez Dawkins Jones was the 12th child of 13 children born to Herbert and Lessie Dawkins. She was born in Buffalo, Texas, Leon County. Sister Jones went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 with her husband, devoted children, family and friends at her bedside. She grew up in the Woodland Community of Mexia and attended the public schools there. and was baptized in the Brown Chapel Church-Of-God-In-Christ by Elder Coleman. On February 21, 1958, Inez and Rev. Booker T. Jones were married in Midland, Texas and began raising their children. Sister Jones held employment in the following job situations: Mexia State School, First Baptist Church Mexia Daycare, and The Home Health Care Agency. She loved the Lord and was a devout Christian Woman. Under the leadership of her husband, Pastor Booker T. Jones, Inez was a member of the Ministers Wives, the Mother Board, the Senior Mission, the Senior Choir, and she worked with the Youth Department for a number of years. Sister Jones enjoyed traveling, shopping, spending time with her family, and visiting the sick and shut-ins., She will long be remembered by her family for her outpouring of love and generosity and for being the “Boss Lady”. Preceding Sister Jones in death are: her parents, one son, Timothy Jones, four brothers and four sisters. Surviving Sister Jones are: Her faithful husband: Rev. Booker T. Jones, Mexia; Her sons: Ronald Jones, Mexia, Booker T. Jones, Jr., Herbert Jones, Robert Jones and wife, Salina, all of Dallas; and Leonard Jones and wife, Letecia of Desoto, TX; Daughters: Delorse Anderson, Kimberly Brown and husband, Victor all of Mexia; Inez Boykin and husband, Joe of Dallas, TX; Sisters: Ether Huckaby, Betty Sanders, Doris Euckaby Phoenix. Arizona; Berdie Johnson and husband, AZ of Houston, TX; Sisters-ln-Law: Lorretta Kinney, Bremond, TX; and Bernice Jones, Bryan, TX; 24 Grandchildren and 21 Great-Grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Shannon Dawkins, Jodie Turner, Anthony Turner, Cedric Carr, Chris Anderson, Dontray Jones and Donte’ Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Jones, Dejuan Peters, Daron Bailey, Deandre Peters, the Ministers’ wives, Billi Anderson and Chris Dawkins. Flower Bearers are Tamekia Dancer, Toya Jones, Tiffany Mack and Laquasha Jones. The family will lunch at the Andrew Chapel Fellowship Hall.
