Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder Feb 23, 1892 Obituary Departed this life at the residence of her brother, N. B. Franklin, in Butler, Texas on Feb. 4, 1892, Eliza Jones, in the 61st year of her age. She was born and raised in Alabama and came to Texas in 1853 or 1854 where she has been a resident for 36 or 37 years. She was a kind and affectionate lady, always ready to help the sick and afflicted when able. She had been afflicted for several years and had been confined to her room for the last months and bore her suffering without a murmur, saying she was ready and waiting her master's call. She left one son and many relatives and friends to mourn her loss. But they must prepare to meet her in a better world as they can never meet again in this. Mrs. Jones was a good Christian and kind neighbor with many friends and was loved by all. She first joined the Methodist Church and changed her beliefs to the Baptist for reasons best known to herself. Her remains were taken to the Mayes Cemetery near Butler and her funeral sermon was preached by Rev. J. W. Wood and all that was left of this good Christian woman was quietly laid to rest to await the final call when they shall come from the north and the south, and from the east and the west, they shall sit down with Abraham and with Isaac and Jacob in the Kingdom. The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends in Butler and vicinity. A Friend Butler, Texas Feb 13, 1892
