GEORGE ALTON JONES II

Funeral services were held Sunday for George Alton Jones II, 46, who died 
Tuesday, Oct. 7, in San Antonio from a brain aneurysm.

Mr. Jones was a former resident of Fairfield and a graduate of Fairfield high 
school. He served in the United States Air Force and was a cum laude college 
graduate. Mr. Jones owned rental property in Fairfield, but spent most of his 
time in Shertz playing golf and participating in numerous other athletics.
As an organ donor, eight patients received transplants following his death 
including two children.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Lakeside Methodist Church in Winkler.
Interment followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery with Johnny Pospisil, Scott 
Leatherman, Brian Granberry, Sam Sherber, Jr., Jack Carey and Rusty Carey as 
pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers included Jason Sherber and Timothy Sherber.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Sonia Jones; children, Dana and Joseph; 
mother, Barbara Gerganess of Streetman; and sisters, Jennifer Granberry and 
Carol Bradley of Fairfield.

Arrangements were made by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home of Fairfield.
