Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle October 29, 2009 JAMES LEONARD JONES A graveside service for Mr. James Leonard Jones was held on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, Texas. James was born on February 8, 1930, to William Ross and Clara McElroy Jones in Teague, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Patsy Nell Hartnett and moved to Pasadena, Texas, where he resided for 57 years. Pat and Leonard had three daughters, Jerri Lynn, Sharon Ann and Joni. He retired from Philbro Refinery in 1995, his only employment, after 57 years of service. Leonard was a member and Deacon at Golden Acres Baptist Church where he was very active in his Sunday School Department and church outreach. Mr. Jones was a 55 year Mason of Boggy Masonic Lodge No. 739 in Teague, Texas. He enjoyed playing senior softball, hunting and spending time at the deer camp with David and Joe Lynne Jones, his beloved nephews. Most importantly, his passion was helping people and especially providing Christmas for children in need. Mr. Jones passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, after a heroic battle with cancer. He died at home with his family at his bedside. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patsy Nell; his sisters Mary Pryor, Pearl Martin and Margie Long Senter; his brothers Joe, Ross and Jerry Jones. Surviving Mr. Jones are his daughters Jerri Capps and fiancé Monte Balcom of Dallas, Sharon Lineberry and husband Scott of Austin and Joni Jones of Pasadena; his grandchildren Kelli Capps Wetsel and husband Reagan, Karli Capps, Shelby and Sydney Lineberry and Zachary Jones; his great grandchildren Carter, Cameron and Reece Wetsel. In lieu of flowers Leonard's wishes would be to make donations to your local food pantries or charities providing Christmas for needy children.
