Freestone County, Texas Obituaries James Harvey Jones Funeral services for Mr. James Harvey Jones, 92, were held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Charles Daily officiated. Interment followed the services at Salem Cemetery near Freestone. Visitation was held on Friday, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Jones passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his residence near Teague. He was born on February 5, 1921, in Smithville, Tennessee to Robert & Dona (Arnold) Jones. Mr. Jones was a lifelong farmer, machinist, hay baler, and mechanic. He worked on trucks, farm equipment, and baled hay for countless numbers of people in the Teague area for many years. Mr. Jones loved going to the lake and fishing and spending time with friends there. He married Amanda Ovada Ford on Dec 5, 1972, and shared over forty years together. Mr. Jones was a member of the Church of Christ for over fifty years. He is survived by his wife, Amanda Ovada Jones of Teague; one son, Glen Jones & wife Dora of Pearland; three daughters, Linda Goodson of Teague, Sheila Turner & husband Carl of Trinidad, and Glenda Boyd & husband Robert of Wortham; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Jones of Lubbock and Billy Joe Jones of Teague; two sisters, Cleeta Carley & husband Dexter of Lubbock and Patsy Rodey & husband Kenneth of Garland; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by one brother, Hatton Jones; and three sisters, Dolly Watson, Zona Holt, and Clara Lee Barlow. Bowers Funeral Home of Teague, Texas conducted funeral arrangements.
