Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Corsicana Daily Sun - Mar 20, 2003 edition Peggye (Calame) Jones Peggye Calame Jones, 90, of Wortham passed away Monday, March 17, 2003 at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. Services will be 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Wortham with the Rev. James Mack Strange and the Rev. Steven Schulte officiating. Interment will follow at Wortham Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Myers, Mike Ray, Scott Newberry, Ross Lide, Jordan Myers, Kelly Lide, J. Scott Newberry III, and Andrew Myers. Mrs. Jones was born Oct. 18, 1912 in Wortham. She attended Wortham schools and North Texas Teachers College in Denton. She worked many years with her sister-in-law, Norma Jones Martin, at the Jack & Jill Beauty Shop in Corsicana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Placere "Red" Jones; parents, Jub and Kate Keeling Calame; sisters, Jessie Mae Hill and Lucille Woodruff; and brother, Spurgeon E. Calame. Mrs. Jones is survived by a sister-in-law, Maurine Calame; cousins, J. H. and Betsy Keller, Susan and Charles Myers and Scott and Carolyn Newberry, all of Fairfield, Marry Ann and Mike Ray of Mexia, James Mack and Sharon Strange of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Rebecca and Jim Bosley of Kirvin; nephew, H.A. Jones of Mexia; niece, Norma McDougal of Lubbock; and special friends and caretakers, Jessie Spence, Peg Brown, Madelyn Smith, and Vanessa Livingston; and other family and friends.
