" Memorial Services Pending for James S. Young 
James Steel Young, 79, passed away at his residence in Freestone County, on 
December 20, 2005. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.  

Mr. Young was born October 2, 1926 in Calcutta, India and had lived in this 
area for the last 25 years. He was a 32 degree Mason and Shriner in Halifax, 
Nova Scotia and Houston. He traveled over the world on start-up operations of 
Chemical Plants in the petroleum industry. He was a chemical engineer with 
Combustion Engineering Co. And also a rancher. 

Mr. Young built their retirement home in Freestone County in 1984. He loved his 
cows and his tractor. He was a privately religious man with great honesty. He 
had battled cancer since 1990. 

Survivors are his wife, Audrey Young; daughter, Irene Van Tiel and son, Douglas 
Young, both of Amsterdam, Holland, and daughters Jessica Dever and Carole Riggs 
of Houston; grandchildren, David Van Tiel, Milan Van Tiel, Andy Young of 
Amsterdam, Holland, Stephen Patton, Adrian Glen and Erica Glen, of Houston.  

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Cross.
