Mrs. Jewell (Perry) Keeton
(June 9, 1927 - October 22, 2011) 

The Angelic Hosts came for Mrs. Jewell Keeton on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 
her residence among loving family and devoted friends.  Viewing was held Friday, 
October 28, 2011 from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home and visitation with 
the family was from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, 
360 Church Street, Fairfield, Texas 75840.  Funeral Services were held Saturday, 
October 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church, 201 North 
Mount Street, Fairfield, Texas with Pastors Elnora Nunnally and Darrell Houston 
officiating.  Interment followed in the Hopewell Cemetery, PR 235 in Fairfield.  
Mrs. Keeton was the only child born to Stephen and Clara Perry in Leon County on 
June 9, 1927.  After she completed the public schools in Richard, Texas, she 
attended Wiley College, Marshall, Texas.  She was an active member of the Jones 
Chapel United Methodist Church where she had served as president of the United 
Methodist Women, Sunday School teacher, Chairperson of the committee on 
Evangelism, a lay delegate to the Texas Conference of The United Methodist 
Church, administrative board member, member of the choir and member of the pastor 
parish relations committee.

Mrs. Keeton was a member of the Heroines Of Jericho Princess Court #257 and the 
Mattie C. Brooks Court #96, Ancient Free Masons of Texas.  On August 18, 1946, 
she and Virgil Keeton, Sr. were married in Leon County.   The six children were 
born to this union that will forever cherish her memory are: Sandra Keeton, 
Sedona, Arizona; Virgil Keeton, Jr., Fairfield, Texas; Stanley Keeton and wife, 
Christle, Oman, Iraq; Tony Keeton, Desoto, TX; Andre’ Keeton Desoto and Sonya 
Keeton Murphy and husband, Danny, Houston, TX; Eight grandchildren:  Chris 
Keeton, Courtney Keeton, Colby Keeton, Kamaryn Keeton, Brilyence Keeton, 
Shontell Murphy, Shonease Murphy and Shoniya Murphy; Cousins who she knew and 
loved as brother and sister:  Sherman Perry, Arlington, TX and Berdine Perry, 
Normangee, TX; a host of other relatives and friends. 

Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home served the Keeton family.
