Mexia Daily News - Apr. 9, 2004 edition Micky Diane Brookshire Key Micky Diane Brookshire Key, beloved daughter, sister, wife and mother, returned home to the loving arms of her Savior, Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at 3:26 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Worham Bend Cemetery at China Spring. A Memorial service will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in First Baptist Church of Wortham. Visitation is scheduled for this evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at BrookView Funeral Home, 3325 Bosque Boulevard in Waco. Micky was born Dec. 23, 1955. Her growing-up years were spent in China Spring, where she attended and graduated from China Spring High School. She was a cheerleader for five years, a Smile Girl at the Heart of Texas Fair and was the first girl from China Spring to place in the state track meet. She had lived in Wortham for the last 15 years. Micky was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Russell Brookshire. Survivors include her husband and soul mate Dwight; a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Trent Stephens of Menard; a son, Cody Key of Wortham; her father, Edward Brookshire; brothers - Bruce Scott and Blain Brookshire, and a very special brother, Nathan; and several nieces and nephews. The family gives a special thanks to friends and relatives, doctors, nurses, Hospice and everyone else who helped Micky fight her battle with cancer.
